Dear Girls on the Run (GOTR) caregivers,
The spring season is officially underway, and we hope your child is having a wonderful time in our life-changing program.
YOUR GOTR GIRL’S LEARNING JOURNEY: AT HOME AND BEYOND
In the first four lessons of Girls on the Run, the girls have been learning what it means to be a part of a team and how to tap into their Star Power, the positive energy inside them that helps them feel confident, strong and capable. They started by building connections with their teammates and choosing to be a Girl on the Run, learning to support each other and grow together as a team. They have also learned what makes them unique and that self-talk matters, watching their star power shine brighter as they use positive self-talk. Lastly, they have been practicing ways to activate their star power, especially when challenges or negative thoughts start to cloud it.
In the next four lessons, the girls will continue building on these foundations by learning how to find balance, explore emotions and practice empathy. They'll work on strategies to stop and take a breather when things feel tough so they can respond in a way that helps them. They will also dive into understanding emotions, both their own and others and how showing kindness and empathy makes a difference. All of these strategies will help keep their star power shining, no matter what comes their way!
Talking about emotions can be difficult, so we encourage you to connect with your participant and engage in conversations about what they learned or discussed during Girls on the Run practice.
END OF SEASON 5K
As part of the Girls on the Run program, your child will be running a non-competitive, celebratory 5K with us at the end of the season. We want everyone to be a part of it and hope to see family and friends join in the fun!
Girls and their coaches are already registered for their respective 5Ks. If you want to join your GOTR girl, you'll need to register for the race using the proper link below. If you aren’t sure which 5K your team is running, please check our 5K list.
