Parent Scoop #2

Dear Girls on the Run caregivers,

We're excited to share what your GOTR participant will learn in Lessons 9-12 as they continue to learn and develop important life skills.

YOUR GOTR GIRL’S LEARNING JOURNEY: AT HOME AND BEYOND

In Lessons 9-12 of Hello, Mountain Mover!, your child will learn the “Stop and Take a Breather” technique, a simple yet powerful strategy to pause and reflect, and find the best tool to activate their I Can! Power when tackling tough situations. They'll reach into their GOTR tool box to use tools they've learned in previous lessons like Stick-With-It-Strategies, Happy Pace, Positive Self-Talk, and Moving with Your Emotions to help them with processing their emotions.

They will focus on the importance of standing up for themselves and others, even when it feels difficult. Through practice, they'll grow more comfortable using their voice to do what's right, even when they feel shy or uncertain. Additionally, they will explore how to Dig Deeper when they encounter new ideas or people, encouraging them to go beyond surface assumptions and seek a fuller understanding. These lessons will all come together as they prepare for their practice 5K.

PRACTICE 5K

The teams are hopping, skipping, jumping, and running their way to the end-of-season 5K. Most teams will be hosting their practice 5K very soon. During the practice 5K, teams will put everything they've learned into action, activating their I Can! Power to achieve one of many goals they've been working on all season. This is a great opportunity to join in the fun - be it running, passing out water, or simply being at the finish line to cheer all the girls on. Check in with your coaches to see when the practice 5K will be and how they can use your help!
